Where do I begin? I decided a few months ago that I was going to go on this Surf & Yoga retreat with 17 other women. All of whom I did not know. I tend to do this with myself. I went abroad to Australia without knowing another person either. It's more fun that way don't you think?
I may not be the loudest person in the room (unless I'm laughing) but I love meeting and getting to know new people. Hearing their stories, their likes, what brought them to this moment, learning their personalities, and seeing what makes them laugh. Truly getting to know someone new is something that technologically has, in some ways, taken away from all of us.
So yes, I love traveling, I love yoga, I love surfing and I love meeting new people... why wouldn't I go on this trip? I could go on and on about all the beautiful souls I met and the amazing people that I can now call friends but I will hold back in order to keep this blog post short and sweet.Just incase you were wondering, my voice has finally come back after an entire week of laughing so hard. So it's safe to say I had an incredible time!
I will however tell you that I decided to rent a water-housing for my new canon (since they didn't have any rentals available for my older version) and the amount of anxiety & fear I had before dunking my camera into mother ocean was unexplainable and real. It apparently was showing, since one of the women I was with took one look at me and said "ok let's breathe it'll all be fine!" haha.
When I finally did go into the ocean with the housing my fear and anxiety turned into excitement. As if I was 11 years old again and standing up on my very first wave. I didn't even notice that I was swimming/treading water for over 2 hours at one point! Sure, not all of the images I took out there are 100% to my liking but it was my first time in the water without having access to change my exposure settings. So I think I did pretty good! I decided that I will absolutely be investing in a water housing as soon as I am able too. It was just way to fun out there!
And on that note.. please relive my experience with these images:
Thanks for the memories OLA 2015. ¡Pura Vida !
Until we meet again...
