A Summer Wedding at The Gadsden House | The McQueeneys
When Michelle and Patrick first got in touch with me about their Gadsden House wedding in downtown Charleston, I was so thrilled – they were planning a romantic outdoor wedding with a live band, and first look. Michelle and Patrick seemed like the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
I started shooting at the Gadsden, where the bride and her friends were getting ready! It was really relaxed because all the girls were there finishing up their Hair and Makeup. Michelle wore the cutest getting ready robe with all her girls! We popped some champagne for photos and they celebrated once they got it open! It was a bit of a challenge at first! haha
Michelle and Patrick’s first look took place inside the venue and it was such a sweet moment! We chose to do inside because Charleston was calling for storms all day which caused the heat and humidity to be extra high this evening! We were able to get Mr. & Mrs. images in front of their beautiful floral ceremony backdrop before the actual ceremony. There are so many benefits to doing a First Look on your wedding day! Not only does it give you enough time to go to cocktail hour but it also gives you so much extra time for photos with your hubby! Once their first look was complete everyone hopped on the cutest vintage pink bus for bridal party photos at the college! On our way back to the venue, I had the bus pull over so I could get a quick snap of the bridal party celebrating out the bus windows. Well, let me tell you, I was across the street (literally) standing in a bush trying to get everyone in the image! I had a few scrapes on my legs after that but hey, I call that a win in my book! It was totally worth it!
The wedding took place at the Gadsden, and was a funny and sweet outdoor ceremony. There were so many laughs, tears, and celebration during their ceremony! After their first kiss, there was a big cheer from everyone! Then the real celebration began!
The wedding reception took place (also) at the Gadsden, which was decorated so elegantly with their lounge furniture, tent, and chandeliers.
They had a live band, which everyone loved and danced hard too! After all the dancing had been done, the newlyweds ended the evening with a sparkler exit. The rain had held off for their entire day and decided to come shortly after their exit was complete! Talk about timing!
